Exporting in SONAR vs other DAWs
Just out of curiosity... is it just me or do a lot of other DAWs just suck at exporting audio? I mean, it's so easy to export individual tracks, buses, pre/post FX, etc in SONAR. I was just working with Cubase and it took forever! Solo track, select, export... blah. I hear that Pro Tools and Logic are similar- lots of manual muting/selecting/fader resets to get individual files exported.
Maybe that changed with recent versions of the other software, but man it's so fast and easy in SONAR, and every time I read about doing it in PT or Logic or Cubase people say it's a pain.

I can't speak for other DAWs as I've only ever used Sonar.
But I find exporting an absolute breeze, always have from version 6 onwards

X1 and Sonar in general export very well indeed. Most other DAWs do not have the versatility or the simplicity of X1 in this regard. Those two things would normally be in conflict. Some how CW has figured out how to reconcile those two qualities. Its a "have your way" sort of thing.

Studio one V2, is nice and easy/quick like Sonar.
It also has an exporting stems facility as well.
Plus it will tell you if you have gone over, and do you want to proceed ?
[Not that you should anyway]

Last time I said any thing good about Sonar's export abilities I got called untalented..... think I'll pass on this. Suffice to say I find it excellent or rather I've never found something it can't do from a simple stereo wave mix to individual tracks. Oh well, too late I've said something good about it again.

Never had a problem exporting Audio in Sonar no matter what format, thats why I am still here, the bakers are good!

I work in Nuendo 5.5 at a post/versioning studio and export audio ALL the time and hardly a day goes by where I don't miss something from the Sonar export dialogue. Not to mention Sonars three nudging types readily avalable at all times - but that's a different story  In Nuendo 5 a pretty decent export dialogue came about but it's quite fidly for more specific exports - and what the audio will contain (FX, Volume etc) is non excistent. However, the naming scheme options in Nuendo is really, really excellent! I wish Sonar had something like that which would remove the neccesity to rename a bunch of files after export. So I second any compliment on the Sonar audio export, it's absolutely ace!

I wish Sonar had something like that which would remove the neccesity to rename a bunch of files after export. Excellent point. I would like for X1 to simply use the name I give a file.

And when bouncing a Synth [Piano] track to Audio, it has some long name.
Bounce Piano as 'Piano' would make it easier when trying to locate Files in Audio folder.
Of course the work around is add an Audio track, name it Piano,
And bounce Synth [Piano] track to 'Piano' Audio track.

I know exactly what you mean and fully agree. To me its the only part of exporting that is an annoyance.They started this back a bit under Sonar 7 or so. Not sure exactly which version. I just wish they hadn't.

I am right now in the midst of editing a woodwind and harp project for NPR. The project is living between Pro Tools, Sonar and Sequoia - welcome to the world of public radio and the migration of a single project through 3 DAW's.
Hands down the workflow for the track Export is superior in Sonar. For my money the import in PT is better - but I'm not interested in debating that with anyone here.
I have 100% confidence in the Sonar export - I have work arounds in PT to consolidate the audio within the project at the track level, and then open the consolidated file in Sonar - in other words I just couldn't take one more real time bounce in PT.
Stem bouncing in Sonar is best on the planet (IMHO) and with 100% confidence of the output.
Regarding the naming schema - As most of y'all I have added operating system name changes into my workflow
