Van Halens back!

With a new album and David Lee Roth...did anyone listen to it yet? I'll admit Van Halen wasn't my number one band but I loved their combination of vocals and guitars. They stuck out as iconic during those years and no one else duplicated or came close to that sound IMO. I thought Eddie was looking a little spent the last time I seen him doing a promo for his guitar line. Hopefully he laid off the cigs since then.

I have heard the first single from the new CD and to be honest, I thought it sucked. I was a huge VH fan back in the day but unless the rest of the album is lightyears better than that first single, forget it.

Someone posted a link to the 'Tattoo' single a while back..it was OK, pretty formulaic stuff really.

I think James put it well.....however, I've always been a big VH fan and do like Eddies sound. The energy that was put into in the early VH is missing now, but I still like them. The backing vocals of Michael Anthony has certainly left a void. IMO.

I'll get the CD/bonus DVD version once it drops down a few quid in price.

I was always a massive Roth-era Van Halen fan, I'm just hoping the spark is still there.

The first single was weak but, the rest of the album more than makes up for it. IMHO.

Yes, but you'd have to arrange delivery yourself.

    The Bouy don't buy stamps.

Funny you should mention that Straummy.

The Lovely Lady and I were commenting on the fact while in London Town (in 2010) we purchased some post cards and stamps. Wrote lovely notes to our folken back home. Dropped them in the post.

To this day, no one has received those post cards.

Mebee The Bouy has not invoiced me yet?

You did address them correctly didn't you?

No good putting 'America' or 'USA' on them.

    Oh no.

For postal purposes, the Royal Mail insist that you have to write "Ex-colony across Atlantic".

I listened to the 30 second demos last night on Itunes. Man I would love to watch their guitar mixer in action. On headphones it almost sounded as if Eddie was playing two different parts on guitar, but I suspect it was just the effect of the mix spread.  Didn't listen in mono yet, but his guitars sounded really WIDE. I'll look around online for a better price on the album. If I can snag it for close to what Stummy paid I'll probably get it.

My first impressions were that at least three or four of the songs had all of that old energy in them, not that the rest of them were bad either.Eddie doesn't seem to have lost his dexterity. David was ok on vocals. It will be interesting to hear comments on the concert circuit about them. Hopefully it didn't take 100 takes to get where they were.

This would make a good reference CD...although I probably won't get anywhere near it lol.
