ACT Question - 'Rotaries Mode' and 'Control Group'?

Can anyone explain just what these little gems are?  I can't find a discussion of it anywhere in the doc or anywhere on this forum after a good bit of rummaging about.  What's the difference between multi-channel and channel strip, and the three different control groups - bus, track and main?  Specifically, what does it make ACT do differently with each setting?

Any insight here would be greatly appreciated....

    Sorry, folks, I lied - or at least suffered some late night confusion which I subsequently shared with you here. Searching the forums again did indeed reveal a good discussion of this that cleared the waters for me quite a bit.  Here's a link to it, should anyone else happen onto this thread in search of the same answers.  The commentary by Jim Wright is very helpful, thanks, Jim.
