More PC2A T Type Leveling Amplifier Madness

Loaded 7 waves files, time stretched each one, bounced to clip then did a save, bounced to clip then saved and so on. Then I noticed that on every PC channel where the Leveling Amplifier was, it had switched itself off and reversed the R37 switch and the Compress/Limit Switch.!!! Clicking on in the Leveling Amplifier reset it.

That looks to me like a video update issue. Did the sound actually change at the same time?

John T didn't get a chance to listen but either way, when clicking on the Amp module it resets itself and the settings, so if you've got it set up to a certain sound you're going to lose those settings anyway. Gain was around 40, peak reduction around 30 and peak was reset back to the default of 50 when clicking on the module.

So whats happening is its resetting when you click on the module. Is that what is happening?

If so that is at least preliminarily a bug.

It only resets if the switches (r37 and limit/compress)  happen to be the opposite way around like in my case after the time stretching and bouncing to clips. It doesn't reset if loaded as it should look.

I definitely know where that png image file is that switches the R37 and Limit/Compress areas. ON my Win7 32-bit installation it's a file named standin.png and it's in a subfolder of C:\Users\UserName\AppData\Roaming\Cakewalk\VSTBitmapCache\SONAR Producer\. I was checking the other day to see if all of the PC VST images were embedded and I ran into that cache folder. I was wondering what that file was for...

We've got a very-intermittent issue with ProChannel presets and related functionality.  I think we might have this nailed now, but we may try to work offline with some who are seeing it consistently.  We'll get this addressed asap.  RE: the graphics issue, I posted this in the other thread...

...

Thanks for the heads-up guys,  This one is just an artwork issue.  At times, SONAR displays a "stand-in" graphic until you actually do something with the plug-in.  We have an outdated bitmap in the resources folder of the PC2A.  FWIW, we had swapped the locations of the R37 and Limit-Switch controls late in the release cycle, but didn't update the stand-in artwork.  We've got this fixed on our end and we'll drop an update as soon as possible (with some other fixes as well).  If this is driving you nuts in the meantime, you can drop the attached bitmap into your Program Files folder (or Program Files (x86)) under   "Cakewalk\Shared Utilities\Internal\PC2ALevelingAmplifier\Resources\"  and replace the file "PC2ALeveler_BG_Inactive.bmp"

On Edit: alas, the internet (i.e. photobucket) is automatically converting the BMP to a JPEG.  Sorry.  You can convert it, or just ignore the whole thing until the fix comes out.  :-\

Great!

YES I have notice the same problem with my BUG. It's exactly that that is my problem and the bad behavior. It always happen after you have saved a PRO CHANNEL-Presets and then re-load presets again.

Note, if I remove the module and then add the same module again it start working.???

Also, saving the PROJECT and re-open the project often makes the MODULE get back on track but sometimes that aint work either...

I'm relatively new to the DAW world but when I read the problem in the OP I'm wondering what the setting is on the meter. That is you can have GR, dbFS, +4 and +10. When I've been fiddling around with the unit I've noticed wildly different swings in the needle depending on that setting.

I didn't see where the OP says if it sounds different or not - just that the VU meter is dead.

X1d had been quite solid here as has the PC2A.

No compression or Limiting happening at all even how much PEAK REDUCTION-level you set. So actually the GR- meter work, no compression or Limiting happening at all in the plugin!

Wanted to bump this and ask Freddie to keep us updated on Cakewalk's responses.

I'm finding that since installing the P2CA module, X1 is completely unusable when trying to use the Pro Channel now. The modules keep freezing and become unresponsive.

Cakewalk ... please help ... this is the same behavior I (we) have been seeing since X1 was released. When you added the Global On/Off option per Danny's request, it seemed to fix it, now the problem seems to be back with the P2CA module. What happened? The only reason I bought the P2CA module was because X1 had been working fine ... now I'm out another $40 bucks and back to square one.

Please ... Cakewalk ... do something.

Thanks,

Bub.

Re:BUG! New PC2A T Type Leveling Amplifier BUGS!!! 2012/04/01 18:50:10 (permalink)
Here's a video of something else odd happening.

Hitting 'E' for Global Bypass doesn't work properly.

The track in question is 13 'Bass NEW'. When I added this track, the Pro Channel was dead. Everything lit up, but the EQ and PC2A controls had no effect, even after I deleted and re-added them. Closed the project, shut off my DAW, came back later, and now the track is doing what you see in the video.

I was using 'E' to bypass effects. It works as expected in every track except 13 'Bass NEW'. It stays on when everything else is bypassed. No envelopes on this track.

This is the kind of stuff the Pro Channel was doing before they added the Global On/Off button. That seemed to fix it, but something went kablooey sometime after the D patch because it's doing the same stuff again.

Bump...

is anybody else seeing this now that the PC2A has been out for a while? Because of this I have stopped using the PC2A, even though I really like the sound. I have inserted it too many times only to have it "dead", peak reduction does nothing. Restarting SONAR is the only way I found that cures it. I was hoping they would have a fix by now.

For those who do have this problem, are you by any chance using Vocal Strip? Or any of the x64 strips?
