Interesting intellectual thread to please John

It is a well documented phenomena of the human condition that those who suffer from a lack of one of the major human senses often compensate in other areas.

For instance, a blind person often has super sensitive hearing. A deaf person may have an enhanced olfactory function.

Scientists have been conducting experiments to see if this compensatory behaviour goes beyond the basic human senses of touch, vision, hearing, smell and taste using, amongst other methods, internet chatrooms as a means to study human behaviour and interaction.

It may surprise you to know that this very forum has been included in this study. In particular, the relationship between the sense of humour/humility and the feeling of self-importance.

Those of you who are familiar with scientific methods will know that in order to have a measuring point, such experiments require a "control". To this end, a forum identity was created that has neither self respect nor anything funny to say. This Balanced Attributes Personality Unit is the measure by which the other extremes were judged.

The experiment has concluded that those lacking in sense of humour most certainly have an extreme level of self aggrandisation and believe themselves to be a cut above just about anyone else. The evidence of this is plentiful, but can most recently be found here......Study in Self Importance

I'm having a hard time keeping score.

Is this fred inane, idiotic or self-important?

Would you settle for a chicken cannon? I know the TSB and airlines use them to simulate bird strikes.

That would be bad - I'd have to leave this fred,  as I don't like other people being self-important idiots. Else I'd be upstairs.

Someone in another fred referred to "losing your left-handed marbles" or something like that. Is this somehow related?

Marbles are inanimate objects Drew and, as such, can't have relatives.
(No offense in-ten-did for those who are as sharp as, or believe they might be related to, said marbles.)
