Concrete Limter/PC2A T Type

What is the difference between the two?  I have the Concrete Limiter and several others but haven't jumped on the PC2A T Type yet.

I think it depends on what you are after in terms of sound.

The PC2A might not really be your cup of tea considering that you may have already enough of that particular effect.

I do find, however, that it does make for punchier kicks and such and does not seem as compressive as some others are...

The Concrete Limiter is just that a limiter. A really good one. The T Type compressor is not as brick wall as a true limiter. It is more gentle less absolute. It also colors the sound.

Two radically different approaches to controlling dynamics.

An LA-2A very softly/smoothly reins-in dynamics.  It doesn't "clamp down" like typical compressors.
You might think of it as the opposite of something like an 1176 (which can be very aggressive).
In a scenario where you want transparently compress dynamics (often vocals), an LA-2A is a great choice.
This is why the LA-610 is a popular tracking tool.  You've got a nice "round" sounding preamp... with smooth LA-2A style compression on the way in...

Concrete Limiter is a peak-limiter... (limit peaks and increase average level)

To elaborate, the Concrete Limiter is a look ahead limiter which is a technology that, while arguably possible in the analog domain using delay, only became practical for use with the popularization of the digital domain through the use of extended sample buffering.

This allows the limiter to use near instantaneous attacks but with a gracefulness that belies the fact that the limiter has extra look ahead time to prepare for attack.

    best regards,

Just in case you don't know about it,

The Concrete Limiter colors the sound too.

It has a very special Bass enhancement option.

Don't ask me how I know.

Not if you don't want it too. Yes, I did know that.
