Sonar X1-Square I 1- Help. Cant figure this one out.

Can anyone tell me how square I 1 works? Do I have to insert a midi track. Can't seem to figure this one out or get it to work.

Win 7 Dell intel Core i3, 2.40 ghz, 6gb RAM, 64bit OS, Sonar X3-Producer, M-Audio Fast Track, Nady SMPS-1X Condensor Mic.

    Add synth, insert MIDI data and hit play.  It does require MIDI data to operate whether that comes from a controller or is drawn in, it should generate sound.

    I thought it was an sort of an effect that you can add to existing track. Say, a guitar track.

    You not only need a MIDI track, but you need an audio track to output its sound. Or you can use an instrument track. All soft synths are like that.

    Can you give me a  brief descrip on how to configure? For instance I have a guitar track I want to add Square 1. Would it be Guitar out to midi track out to square 1. Sorry, I'm still unclear on some of the features and how to configure them,

    Is the guitar track MIDI or Audio? You need MIDI. All you would do is insert the synth and select midi source or instrument track, Track folder (if you want) single outs or multiple outs and everything configures for you. Then you can drag and drop the MIDI or import the MIDI into the MIDI track of the synth.
