You can't open another software brands "session" but you can drag and drop or import the waves to a new Sonar Project and carry on.

That's what I was afraid of. The guy recorded the entire session as a single file. However there are breaks. So first nothing is time aligned. Second the files don't readily correspond to each other. I'm kind of a new guy but isn't there a common import/ export file? I heard something about "OMF" THANKS

OMF would/should work if HE exports the project as an OMF file then you should be able to import the OMF files into sonar.

Audio only as midi doesn't export in OMF,

To get any midi data HE'd also have to export a Midi file as well.

Does Audition include timestamps on it's recorded data (I can't remember at the minute)
If it does you could try "move to timestamp" on each clip

Is this a Multi Track Session or just a stereo recording? I'm having trouble envisioning these files. Your suggesting that these are multi track "sessions" stored in a native format and not as separate files for each song??

Freex has the solution... From Adobes web page:---------------- Project exchange with third-party NLEs and DAWs Easily move sessions between Adobe Audition and Avid Pro Tools using built-in OMF import and export functions in Adobe Audition. Share files with other video NLEs via XML interchange. ---------------------------the other solution is it's very good software to own so for $99 bucks or try the free download trail version which might allow you to re export his files as OMF.

It was a multi-track recording session. The plan was to record as one big long set of individual tracks. However the SW broke it down into a mix-match of files My expectation was I would receive one big azz wav file per track. Import those and be good to go.
