Home Studio 7XL
I think it is a shame that there is to be no new development on Home Studio.
I currently use Home Studio 7XL and changing over to Essential or Studio does not offer a signifcant improvement from my feature list at the moment. Also the ability to separate mixing screens from track view screens gives you more screen space + as I use a laptop if I changed over to Essential I would have to invest in a large monitor to have the benefit of seeing everything properly on one screen.
It would have been nice ...
... to have seen the Home Studio eq developed so that you could have a visual picture of the sound wave you were editing (which is what I think puts Izotope ahead in the mixing game)
... to have a simplistic vocal tool in Home Studio with many industry-standard presets which only needed tweaking
... to be able to record 'on the fly' loop explorer mixes in Home Studio (the ones you stumble across by mixing + matching wave files when previewing them) instead of having to stop your creative flow and click + drag the files to the track window
... to have bigger windows + buttons on the standard effects in Home Studio and an interface which combined more than one effect to process a track (+ again many industry-standard presets which you only needed tweaking)
It would have been nice to show the next generation the fun and simplicity of Home Studio instead of them having to need an industry-standard qualification to use a musical interface.
Home Studio stands out from Pro-Tools and Cubase because of it's simplicity and ingenuity but I think Sonar will now only get lost in the crowd.
Anyone else feel the same?
