Sudden loss of audio and white screen of death
Hi,
sometimes, suddenly the audio starts behaving weirdly, onl playing back a couple of tracks instead of the entire song. everything just goes mute except a couple of random tracks.
When this happens, I cannot save the song anymore. if I try, X1 goes into the "not responding" mode and the faded white screen stays stuck on the screen.
All I can do is close the program.
I am using X1D expanded + motu ultralite, windows7 64, i7 computer (the resources are not stretched on the fault I mentioned, it is not a matter of the project being too taxing on the computer)
is that a common problem / there a solution to this?
Many thanks,
Vinny

I had the same thing happen a couple of times last night after using the Eddie Kramer Sig. plugs for the first time. X1-Expanded actually crashed hard and wouldn't reopen until I restarted the computer. I just figured that it was b/c the project was loaded with plugs and i'm running a dual core. I made the project a bit more efficient by creating more busses instead of putting extra plugs on tracks and also stopped inserting th EK plugs while the project was running and It didn't happen after that. Will see what happens today when I get it going again in a little while.

I have been having these issues for so long I have lost track. Is it a bit bridge issue, I think so but haven't been able to nail it down to one specific setting... I have tried using bit bridge, j-bridge with different settings... my gut is that the teleport logic is flawed and I am hoping once all of my plugins go 64bit, these FREQUENT crashes will be a thing of the past. bit bridge issue for shure, i was told that it was my old delta card(that works fine with every other program but sonar) it is sad that i wont trust this daw when i take it on the road to record. i use another daw for travel, and will mix it with sonar at home where i can hit save and watch it crash to that frozzen white screen. so is there a way to stop this, is there a fix for bit brigde.???? it does it with emu0202 and the 0404 card to.

Haven't crashed in the last hour and a half, but i've not been doing the things that i know will typically cause problems. The Plugin count is not as high as it's before w/o any real glitching, but yet X1 seems like it's still on the edge. It shouldn't be a bitbridge issue here b/c if the instability is due to the Kramer plugs, All of Waves' stuff is now x64 and I installed it yesterday. Maybe these EKs are just hogs or i'm somehow running the 32bit version. How would I find that out?

I normally just work with audio tracks miking equipment but I do use SD3 to create a basic Drum Click track in those projects and I notice the same thing but it just happens with the midi side of things, no issues with the audio tracks. Sometimes just the Kick will hit, other times just the hihats or snare might play. I have to click around a bunch on the midi track itself soloing/muting/etc... to get them all to play together. (All on the same SD3 Track)

Digi... I found that raising the MIDI buffers (one of the property settings) will fix the missing MIDI notes. The bridge thing: 1) Are all the FREEBIE cakewalk plugins 64 bit (not the 3rd party stuff but the native cake stuff like channel tools, perfect space, etc.)? If not, shame on the bakers for not porting these to 64 bit 2) I just might abandon all plugs 32 bits once UAD is ported to 64 bits Now, if it still happens in the total 64 bit universe, then SONAR has some big issues. I went to SONAR enhanced but had to back it out because these crashes were happening even more than without enhanced. Jim BTW - I am using the OCTA CAPTURE so even ROLAND interfaces have this issue.

I will try with all plugins bounced to track for a while, see if this doesn't happen anymore, just to see if this is the issue. It may be incidental, but the issu seems to happen more often when playing around a looped section. does anyonme else notice this?

I don't do loops but I have found that when I switch between different outputs on my OCTAPUS, coming back to the master not being solo and my system is toast... if I always leave the master output active, the system never hangs.... very strange. Like changing which pair of outputs are active causes my system to hang... Jim PS - so sorta like loops (that is, audio related)
