I never bought one of these.

I'm  am trying to decide whether I need to buy a mid-field or a near field lava lamp.  I really feel I should have one for the vibe.  Or maybe two?  Should the iso booth have a separate lamp or will the visibility into the control room be sufficient.   Should I have a mirror ball in there instead?

Why not buy 2 mid fields and use them as near fields. They'll seem bigger.

The mirror ball could be cool... don't forget, you'll need some spots to bling it with.

I have a lava lamp or else it is in the trash. Sure you don't need a strobe light instead.

You need a stereo pair in any case.

Yes, absolutely...stereo is the way to go. I have two of them.

Can't seem to get ARC to work with them though.

There are some really terrible Chinese made lava lamps, but Jim Roseberry over at Studio cats is doing a mod on those makes that really make the vibe burst into color.

I am not being hyperbolic or exaggerated in nature.

If you can provide links to the lamps you're considering, maybe someone here own's one and can tell you what they think.

Also, some stores may let you take them home for the weekend and try them out before you have to own them.  It is always best to try them in your studio as they will always appear different than at the store.

    Hope this helps,
    Tom

I prefer a mono, near-field Lava Lamp to check phase. So far, its always been single phase...
