Basic Vocoder in Sonar
Could someone suggest a cheap or free vocoder plugin that works well in Sonar? Can you use it in realtime? Does it require rewire or midiloopback? How is it done exactly?

I do use Pentagon- it's coool and I have made some clients VERY happy with that effect. However, it doesn't sound exactly like a traditional vocoder (or maybe it does if you pick the right patch?)

i really like image-line's vocodex it's the best sounding software-vocoder out there, if you ask me i can't find any good video clips showing how good it is though... but here you can get a little taste anyway... jump to the time 1:49 and listen from there. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wXa_LWJ_jYg it costs $99 but is totally worth it :) ...it's unfortunatelly 32bit, but i've heard they're working on a 64bit version edit:__________________ best way to use it in sonar is to: insert it as a vst-effect on the audiotrack then use any other vst-instrument as a carrier by sending it to vocodex input.. it makes the sounddesigning very flexible.. :)

@ Loptec ... the creator of Vocodex (gol) has stated on the image-line forums that there will, in fact, be NO x64 version of Vocodex. he is not developing one. what a tragedy, because it sounds awesome, but is unusable in Sonar X1 x64, even with jBridge

However.. I've got it to work with Sonar X1 64bit and bitbridge, though.. 2010 I made a cover of Kraftwerk's "The Robots", by using just Arturia's Minimoog and Vocodex. (I'm working on the video and will post it on youtube when it's ready) :P The project works just fine even though I use Sonar X1 64bit, so this shouldn't be a problem.. :O

You are absolutely correct, I'll edit my post to make that clear. I used TAL on a project a while back and had forgotten about it. Your link brought me to the x64 version download which I'll have to give a try and see if it's something I'll use in the future. I don't have much of a need for a Vocoder, but it did work well so perhaps it's time to upgrade.
