ASIO latency adjustments using ZOOM R16

I'm trying to use X1 with the ZOOM R16 in Audio Interface mode. I can record fine, but playback thru R16 suffers from SCP (Snap-Crackle-Pop). I've done a lot of web research, but have not found the silver bullet yet.

One thing I would like to try (and that has been suggested) is the obvious tactic of adjusting latency settings. But for some reason, the Mixing Latency settings (on the Driver Settings tab in Preferences) are all disabled. That doesn't seem right. I can't change Buffers in Playback Queue or Buffer Size.

Why would this be the case? Is there some way to overcome it?

In ASIO mode, you need to click the ASIO TAb. Forget about the Buffers in Playback Queue or Buffer Size. keep them at 2 and 256.
The zoom is not known for good drivers, so you may have to settle for crack (poor Whitney) crackle and pops in ASIO mode and maybe even in WDM mode.

There best used for what there made for, a hard disk recorder, not a sound card /interface..

My Zoom R24 works well.  Make sure you have all the latest drivers and turn off antivirus and Internet connection.  These were designed to work as DAW interfaces besides portable multi-track.
