Cannot Record

I recently upgraded from Sonar 7 to Sonar X1 Essentials. I can arm tracks in both midi and in standard .wav but the record button only works when recording midi. My interface is an Alesis Multimix USB 8 16bit. Could this be the problem ? I can playback both midi and .wav.

Thank you
Andy

Check Preferences-Devices and make sure the Multimix is selected for Input and Output. Check Driver Settings tab for the same. Also make sure in the File tab, you have 16bit selected as the record bit depth.

In addition to Dave's suggestion make sure your routing is set correctly, i.e. you are setting the input in the audio track to the channel on the Alesis that you have something plugged in to. The levels are set correctly etc. etc.

It might also be an idea to define "Cannot Record". Can you arm an audio track? When you start recording what happens? Does it start to record but record silence or does it not start at all?

More info on what happens when you try will help track down the issue faster.

I am going to try Daveny5 suggestions.

Fastbikerboy: to answer your question - I can arm the track itself. But when I hit (R) to record or the actual Record Button it does not record. However, on a midi track I can arm the track and hit Record and it works.

I think ya missed what FBB was saying LOL. Check you routing inputs and make sure that your interface on SONARS Track View [INPUT] is set correctly. What does it show in Track View at the bottom of the Channel/Track for INPUT & OUTPUT?

This sounded like you do not have the correct input selected for the track. the input has to corelate tot eh alesis input. So go click the drop down "input" box for the track and select the correct input.
