sample rate conversion bug fix on windows 7

fyi-

MS released a hotfix in Feb for a sample-rate-conversion (SRC) bug in Windows 7 which could result distorted audio.

To be clear, I don't imagine this affects *Sonar itself* as I'm sure it does its own SRC, but you may still have come across this when playing back audio on your machine if SRC was involved (e.g. playing back 48kHz DVD audio to a 44.1kHz buffer).

Hotfix is here: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2653312

Long discussion of the problem here: http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/en/windowspro-audiodevelopment/thread/725546ce-57bf-40d0-b7aa-47e51de9c3ae

Hope this helps someone :)

Yep, this doesn't affect Sonar. Even in MME mode, Sonar uses DirectSound instead of WaveOut, and this hotfix takes care of the WaveOut bug.

But Flash apparently uses WaveOut, so this hotfix takes care of the issue of bad SRC when viewing/listening through flash-based websites. And there are a lot of those.

Yes I think Noel even commented on this recently WRT noticing artifacts on some web-based media SRC.
