Replacement Reverb for UAD Realverb Pro?
UAD is making the jump to 64 bit & these new drivers will not be backwards compatible with their UAD 1 cards. (jfyi.. you can continue using the 32bit drivers for UAD-1 cards, but those won't be updated going forward). I'm happy with the recent prochannel EQ and compressor releases, but rely on my UAD-1 for Realverb Pro. Instead of spending $$ to upgrade to a UAD-2, I'm considering allocating those funds to a native Reverb. This is a very subjective question, however I'd be interested in opinions on which 64 bit reverbs to consider replacing Realverb Pro with. Something with usable presets and not super expensive (e.g. Altiverb) I don't have a preference of convolution vs. algorithmic - I'm more concerned with usability for basic vocals and acoustic guitar. I haven't spent time with PerfectSpace yet (but will) - do you feel this is on par with Realverb Pro (even though it's convolution?) Valhalla, Aether, Lexicon, etc. Any thoughts? Thanks for your help. Russ

You can use any IR sample you can get your hands on in Perfect Space. There are many out there, many for free.

+1 on Valhalla Room - demo it first - you won't be dissapointed, especially when you see the price

Aye Eric who just recommended Valhalla above you provides some really good ones... Valhalla Room seems to be the choice of champions at the moment when it comes to algorithmic verbs.

Does Valhalla have a range of relatively usable presets? I'm happy to tweak things, but don't want to spend 100 hours trying to come up with usable basics. Thanks!

I have a few extra cents laying around. They are quite common too. I will sell a few to you so you can say you have common cents. Don't be left out. There is only a short time left for this bargain. Make best offer. I will sell you ten cents for twenty dollars. Each cent will come with a presentation case suitable for framing.

UAD-1 one driver won't be updated??? I didn't know that, that is terribie! I like RealVerb Pro for its realistic sounding rooms, I get the impression Valhalla Room is more of an "effect" type of verb. But I could be wrong! I don't like convolution for rooms. Always sound sorta "glued-on" to my ears...

SvenArne - Yes, I just got the email notification from UA yesterday. Apparently the UAD-1 cards aren't compatible with 64bit drivers (or they're just limiting their development focus to their newer products)

Anyway, thank you very much, guys, for make us know plugs like Valhalla : So, following your unanimous support for the Valhalla reverb, I decided to demo it (by the way :very simple installation process as opposed to plugs big names of the market, painless !!!) and I was really captivated by the sound within 5 minutes ! I tried it on my voice with which I am never satisfied : this reverb is both precise and thickens without drowning or denaturating the original source. I have not yet received my audio pc configuration with X1 from my installer : I purchased QL SPACES in the idea of being able to approach a nice reverb quality; I also bought the Softube Mix bundle with the Tsar-1 R (apparently, very appreciated). But, above all concerning QL Spaces, I hope I will not regret because I think the Valhalla room would suit my needs.
