How to Make Instrument Track Output Mono

Since there is no mono/stereo toggle button on an instrument track, is there any easy way to force an instrument track into mono besides splitting the instrument track into two pieces midi and synth? I'm clueless

    you could put channel tools in the FX bin and use the sum to mono setting (or something like that, I'm not sitting in front of it).
