Amplitube 3 insert as soft synth VST
I've configured AT3 as a synth but it's not available to insert as a soft synth. Anyone managed this? I want to control AT3 wah through an expression pedal on a Apro300, and thats all good on standalone AT3 midi learn but I can't make it work as a plugin. I think the plan in X1d is: Audio track: guitar input from fast track pro output to AT3 (soft synth) Midi track: input from Apro300 output to AT3 (soft synth) Spent so long on this now that I've forgotten what I was going to play.

It's an 'Audio FX' plugin surely, not available as a synth plugin?

While it is true that some synths will show up in your plugin browser as an audio effect, the original z3ta+ being a perfect example, audio effects, such as AT3, will not be listed in your available synths in the browser's synth rack. I would say z3ta+ is in the minority as for the most past VSTi (instruments) will be found in your browsers synth rack, and VST (effects) will be in your plugin structure of your browser. By the way this does not preclude you from using it as an effect on a synth track, you can load a synth (any synth available in the synth section of the browser) and add AT3 to the synths audio track's FX Bin (if using the method by which both a midi and an audio track get created durring synth insert) or if you are using the Simple Instrument Track method when adding your synth, just drag AT3 to the synth's instrument track FX Bin and you will have your synth processed through AT3. Hope this helps.

zaurska I haven't been able to get much off google, but it does seem other people are getting this or similar to work: http://forum.cakewalk.com/tm.aspx?m=1872617 http://forum.cakewalk.com/tm.aspx?high=&m=2073674&mpage=1#2536722 http://forum.cakewalk.com/tm.aspx?high=&m=1662193&mpage=1#1662609 But these aren't working for me. IK forum for AT3 isn't providing the solution but the manual says: 14.2 MIDI Configuration Two of the three posts are about Vocoders of sorts (some synths can be loaded as effects ie. z3ta+), and the third is a case of using a VSTi instrument (VB3 Organ) through AT3, which still requires the method I listed above. AT3 cannot load as a synth, it only processes audio information. You can add it to the FX Bin of a MIDI instruments audio track but you still need an instrument to drive it. Follow the steps I've listed above and it will work.

Thanks Jind I'll try it when I get home. The issue I'm trying to get at is combining the audio input from a guitar input through AT3 but also having the plug in hear the midi data. I'll step through your advice and let you know. David

Ahhh - I think I missed something (not uncommon). You should be able to assign the expression pedal in Amplitube itself. If I recall it has a MIDI configuration button down near the bottom of the interface once you have it up and running. It's labled MIDI and it opens a configuration window. You will still need to load it on an audio track as above and have your inputs setup for whatever interface your guitar is on, but I'm pretty sure the MIDI you are looking for setup is within Amplitube 3 itself.

Thanks again Jind Yes you're right that settting is in the standalone of AT3 and midi learn works great. But in the plug in it is not there (by design) and the manual instead says: 14.2 MIDI Configuration When running as a plug-in, AmpliTube 3 will be able to receive MIDI from the host (this is the tricky bit for me). Refer to your host sequencer or DAW on how to set it up so that it can send MIDI to audio plug-ins. When running as a Standalone, AmpliTube 3 needs to be configured to know from which MIDI port it should read MIDI data from. So all good standalone. But struggling with plug in because the assignments aren't retained D

hi david (with at3 configured as a synth) try: on the audio track you're monitoring the guitar input --> right-click the fx bin --> insert soft synth --> at3; now in the trackview multidock console view, with the track/channel containing audio in & at3 selected, (multidock) options menu --> FX --> show assignable controls is selected/ticked; in the track/channel containing audio in & at3, 4 parameters will be displayed --> right-click any one --> reassign control, and choose the at3 param you want to control from the list... then, back in the multidockviewchannel, right-click your at3 param --> remote control, do the midi-learn thing... hth, p

There's something that corrupts this plug-in from time to time. The symptoms are that the BPM doesn't hear the host and that you can't insert as a synth even if you select such in the properties. Re-installing did the job for me and everything worked as Jind and Pwl said. Might be due to stupidly installing 32bit and 64bit, or maybe which folder they are in. Anyway, this can work as described if set up right.
