Using only the left or right portion of a track?

I'm recording bass through a Line 6 POD HD. I have the left channel set to a straight DI and the right channel set as a more driven amp sound. Is there a way I can record both of those sounds into different tracks? Can I record into two tracks and somehow use only the left channel of one and right channel of the other but get them to play down the center?

    I've never used a POD so I can't give a detailed answer.
Just in general: Recording a mono instrument, like bass, you normally use a mono track, not stereo.

If you have two separate lines coming from the POD, you can record them to separate tracks by connecting them to separate inputs of your soundcard. Just arm two mono tracks and set their inputs accordingly.

you should be able to, just select individual channels as inputs in MC instead of the stereo input.

then panning both tracks center (default) will play them both down the center.

yes... you can record two tracks at the same time with different input sources for each.

I normally use the left input in mono for all my tracking. Once or twice I have had the mic on the L and the guitar on the R as I recorded a scratch track vox guitar.

For all my final takes, it is one track at a time mono ....and it doesn't matter if its left or right input.
