Having trouble recording Midi to audio, and Some Soft Synth Issues in Sonar x1 Studio

Hello everyone,

Just had a few questions It might be something really simple that I am missing or just overthinking it but never worked with midi files before.

I Just figured out how to import midi files into sonar X1 updated with the 1xd patch recently. I understand the steps and how to rout the tracks to make them play with the TTs-1 and other Soft Synths, But I am unable to convert the Midi tracks into Audio Tracks. Ive Tried to insert audio track then armed it select the midi track and record nothing happens.. reason being I have to go into the audio control panel for the master volume>options> Properties Click Recording then see a few options I am suppose to click something with the Midi Output and select it instead of the microphone or the Line.. But when I do that There are no other options but Microphone and Line to Select.. and its set to the Main Sound Card Soundmax Audio HD. Thus I cant Record the midi onto the Audio track..
Is there several different ways of doing this And Do I have to convert the Midi tracks to audio? I know in the long run I can export as audio But still need to add Lead and Vocals into this Project, Want to make sure
everything wont be lost.

2nd Issue After getting all the correct Sounds to the midi tracks via TTS-1 Or SI Bass, SI Drums Sometimes It defaults Back to the Defaulted Sound after routing it within the midi track and  after customizing the sound in the soft synth and pressing play, I managed to get some to stick, though Was wondering if there was anything I was missing to get this right the first time or if theres certain steps before.

For the SI Drums It's routed correctly and I picked out the Drum Kit I want to use, when pressing play the Drums never play unless I reselect the drum kit when its playing, I did notice on the midi track It has none and Bank 0 below it has alot of different numbers to select.. I am not sure how or which one is right for the drum kit as its not descriptive like the TTS1 or SI bass which has Bank 1, 2  etc....and other sounds you can select Below the Bank with names within the track panel.

Lately When I Save the project as a whole the Soft Synths Stick to the routed midi tracks but always Delete the Saved Presets For the customized sounds and go back to the default when closing sonar x1 and reopening it as if I never did any work getting the sound I want, and saving to the bank it wont reload it and have to customize all over again..  I might think this has all to do with not converting midi to audio?

Its been a tidious issue and we keep getting further with each suggestions/advice I receive from the cakewalk tech support, I know how hard it is to explain things over the phone.. as I was in tech support with computers.. So I am turning to the Forums for help And Appreciate any responses That will help me get these issues resolved or to see it more clearly and if any issues reside if there is a workaround.  We feel So close yet so far to completing these projects.

Also, would it be worth it to upgrade to Sonar x1 producer expanded version?

Thank you all for any responses It would help us greatly.

I didn't read your entire post but let me give a few hints. Unless you have a project you need to have already there is no need to import MIDI into X1. Its a native file format for X1. Simply load the MIDI file.

Once loaded then use the synth rack to load in soft synths. TTS 1 can have 4 audio outs. That means 4 audio tracks. Make sure you have the properties dialog pop up when you load a synth. Here you can select all audio outs. X1 will then create the audio tracks.

Then route as you stated the MIDI tracks to the synth at the output dialog of each MIDI track.

After all MIDI is routed and playing through the synths goto the synth rack in the browser and freeze the tracks. Its the same almost as a bounce but easier and quicker. And your done.

If I have not answered a question please ask.
