Limiting key range of a midi track

Hi everyone,
I am using Keyrig49 Midi Keyboard,Roland DUO Capture and Sonar LE. I want to play two tracks at the same time, also I want to split the instruments octave-by-octave.
For example,
I want to play a piano sound from C1 to C3 and I want to play the synth from C3 to C5. How can I do that?

    Welcome to the forum.
I don't think that's possible without a keybord that can be split.
You can, however, record 1 track with both parts and copy the notes for one part to another track with a different output, or copy/clone the entire track and put a MIDI filter on each to block the notes in each track you don't want to hear and set each track's output to your desired synth. I think...
Or just record each part seperately on different tracks with different outputs.

I am selling my MIM Fender Stratocaster HSS, red and black. PM for more details.

Music Creator 2003, MC Pro 24, SONAR Home Studio 6 XL, SONAR  X3e, CbB, Focusrite Saffire, not enough space.
    Everything is better with pie.

I'm not an expert on the subject but IIRC the keyboard split is often soft synth dependant. At least I think I've read several reviews where they use this as a selling argument.
I'm not sure if SONAR has any say in the process. I believe it's between the keyboard and the soft synth, but I'm not quite sure.

SONAR PE 8.5.3, Asus P5B, 2,4 Ghz Dual Core, 4 Gb RAM, GF 7300, EMU 1820, Bluetube Pre  -  Kontakt4, Ozone, Addictive Drums, PSP Mixpack2, Melda Creative Pack, Melodyne Plugin etc.
