Next Pro Channel module-Reverb please!!

I would really love Cake to implement a really good verb for the next PC module.  Just sayin'.

Mmm, maybe. Though I see reverbs as typically a bus process using multiple sends. Might be a little limiting in the Pro Channel I think. It maybe deserves a simple reverb plug, but nothing special which people may want to use in a more traditional bus set-up. I'd probably use it for quickly dialling in a verb for demos and ideas, but not for serious mixing.

There's lots of good reverbs. Is creating one limited to the ProChannel a step forward, I wonder.

Perhaps if the bakers solve the ProChannel-FX bin pre-post issue we can use our favorite fx more freely.

I would really welcome fx that don't suddenly disappear over versions or between 32/64/(128?) bit versions.

One could use it on a bus PC.  That would be the practical application.  The bakers have given us a bus comp so reverb isn't too much of a stretch.

    Yes, bus or channel.

Cake really hasn't updated their tempo-based effects in a while.

A spring reverb as part of a Roland Space echo would be nice.  Echo, reverb - perfect for bus or channel.

And a good seller, I would think, certified by Roland.

That's a good marketing wheeze, what with Cakewalk being a subsidiary of Roland and all...

Reissue all classic Roland FX as PC modules!

    I'm sure it'll fill Cakewalk's coffers!

Personally other than a transparent mastering limiter for x1, Id rather see cake implement it to allow any vst to be routed in any order through the PC, rather than coming up with new modules. Ive decided I'm not paying for any more ad-dons for PC until its more flexible and stable.

I could go for that - as already pointed out a PC module can just as easily reside on a buss. That pretty much opens up anything really but my personal pick would still be an analyzer next.

I am looking at buying a decent reverb. A buss reverb would be a nice addition.

If it was an option and if it sounded great and used less resources than Sonitus or Lexicon, I am all for it.

I posted in the other PC thread, so sorry for the dupe... I'd love to see a Roland SRV-330 Dimensional Space Reverb plugin. A truly under-appreciated box. Cakewalk can just take the algorithms from Roland and code it up.

I'm not sure that I would go for a PC reverb unless it was a good emulation of a classic piece of gear.  Reverbs that are good always seem to be CPU burdens so dropping one on a channel would be a waste of resources.

I'd prefer the PC to include emulations of classic types of channel strip hardware.

That said, the nice thing about the Pro Channel plugs is that I don't have to buy them if they aren't something I want.

I am in one of those places where I seem never to know which reverb I should use.

One reason is I have a rather nice covering of different types all seem to work well enough but what I am looking for is a revarb that is good for stereo ambiance as well as can be used on voice and instruments that uses virtually no CPU and has very simple controls yet is very powerful and costs nothing or very little.  That can be used in the PC and works well with others.

    Am I asking too much?

Seriously, I wouldn't mind a PC reverb module. That would solve the first problem. I would like a good multi-channel compressor for PC too.

There is a lot of talk of CPU here. What computers are you guys running? I never see any CPU issues at all. Granted, I am running a pretty decent CPU now (i7 2600) with 8GB ram. I just thought computers had pretty much overtaken your average plugs these days and it wasn't too much of an issue any more. Except for maybe direct monitoring through SONAR if you have something intensive.

This actually is one thing that makes me a bit concerned about the approach to new add-ons as Pro Channel addons.

I'm not against it at all, but it makes me wonder why so may seem, well, lazy to insert a great 3rd party plugin ("reverb" is one example).

I know I find myself being a bit lazy because PC does offer some strong modules now, but not all of them are as strong as some 3rd party plugins.   Hence, there is an easy / lazy way to approach things.

Good or bad?  I dunno, but I do know that when I do use a really strong 3rd party plugin vs and easy to get to / get at PC module, there often is a big sonic difference.

I also find the adjustment knobs/controls on all the PC modules are hyper sensitive.  I find myself having to use SHIFT almost all the time which is kind of a drawback, IMHO.

    I'm just sayin' ...

Disagree. There are so many amazing reverb plugins on the market already. I don't see the point in having one strictly for the ProChannel. Are reverbs not best used on a bus for the most part anyway. The ProChannel should stick to the basics. I will say it again - a channel tools module for proper panning and stereo control.

I would pay good money for a working suite of vintage Sonitus modules for the Pro Channel.

Someone Something got on my nerves on Saturday so I sat down and pounded out a 4 minute long instrumental just to take my mind of it ... all backwards. I'm whacked, what can I say.

I used the old cakewalk amp sim, Sonitus reverb, multiband comp, comp, eq, modulator, and gate. It was the best sounding recording I've done in a very long time and with almost no effort. There's something about those Sonitus plug's that just sound so natural. I really hope Cake doesn't do away with them, although I got a bad feeling they aren't long for this world. :(
