Sonar X1 Producer - V-Vocals best practices?
I'm a new to V-Vocals so please be kind - I have a vocal track that I'm running thru V-Vocals for simple (minor) pitch correction here and there - Here's what I've done so far 1) Take the entire vocal track, and split it up into sections at the breaks 2) Apply V-Vocals to the sections that needed (14 total) But, I noticed toward the end, the vocal track was getting distorted and had some latency - just not right. So, my question - what is the best way to implement V-Vocals (best practices)? Keep the entire track and apply it as 1 track or split up the track into sections? Sections is much easier to deal with but obviously is creating more overhead. Again, I'm new to V-Vocals so any input is greatly appreciated. System info: Sonar X1 producer (patch d) 64 bit Core 2 Quad processor 8 gig RAM 3 320 gig fast SATA drives (1 system, 1 apps, 1 projects) M Audio Delta 10/10 interface Superior Drummer 2.3 (64 bit) RNP Mic preamp I have recorded 8 simultaneous tracks at once with minimal CPU overhead. I've mixed and mastered over 20 tracks at once with minimal overhead, lots of effects (VSTs) etc. Performance isn't an issue (at least I don't think).

As the question is X1 relate you will probably get more answers if you post in the X1 forum. This one deals with the older versions and a lot of people do not look here anymore.

axefire So, my question - what is the best way to implement V-Vocals (best practices)? Keep the entire track and apply it as 1 track or split up the track into sections? Sections is much easier to deal with but obviously is creating more overhead. Short clips are best. Also, V-Vocal is prone to crashing, so bounce to audio as soon as possible after working with it. I'm assuming that X1 doesn't differ from earlier versions in this respect.

If only a small portion of a vocal needs pitch editing, separate that section from the rest by splitting the clip. Do your edits, and then bounce. Here's an old thread with some V-Vocal tips.

Sad that the only thread in the last day is about x1. Traffic here is slowly diminishing to 1 post a day. RIP Sonar 8.5 and friends.

Cactus - I saw this lament here before - "...too bad there is no traffic on the Sonar 8.x forum." At the time, the best reply was someone who said users of the old version are too busy making music. We have solved our issues and we are not encountering (as many) bugs, so we're not on the forum. And yet the forum is still here with good answers when you need 'em. This is a good thing, right?
