High frequency click when sidechaining drums to PC4K EXP/Gate

Hi Everyone

I am trying to tighten up my bass with my drums and so have inserted a send on my drum bus and sent it to the PC4K EXP/Gate sidechain input on the bass track (PC4K EXP/Gate in gate mode).

I thought it would be interesting to hear the effect of varying the settings of the gate clearly by experimenting with the same setup except inserting the gate in a Z3TA+ 2 track with a sine wave or simple pad playing.  Trouble is when I ramp up the Threshold and Range I get a high frequency click as the gated sound plays and this is more noticeable when the Fast Attack is enabled.

Any ideas why this is happening and how to get rid of it (I tried to EQ it out with a low pass filter without much success).

Cheers

Just done a bit more playinmg around with the Sonitus Gate as it has a number more parameters to control- one of which is the attack.  Basically the 'click'/'glitch' seems to kick in at <1.5 ms attack.  So given that even with the PC4K set to slow attack (the help file says this is "auto detecting") it must effectively be working at <1.5 ms attack.

Furthermore, whilst I described it as a high frequency 'click' it actually dissapears when I EQ out the note with the Z3TA playing a sine wave from playing a middle C (261 Hz).

Is the clicking some artefacts of the gate algorithm?   Why isn't the PC4K smart enough to deal with this- this Pro Channel stuff is meant to be- well Pro(fessional) isn't it?

    Cheers
