    I think suicide is the single most selfish act a human being can commit. But, it sounds like he struggled a long time, and it is indeed sad. My condolences to his family.

    A scientist knows more & more about less & less till he knows everything about nothing, while a philosopher knows less & less about more & more till he knows nothing about everything.

    Selfish? No. He had severe depression. He was not in control of his own actions. That's part of the tragedy.

    Well, this line I read back then when they announced his death left little doubt. "True to form, he chose his own exit the way he chose his own life."

    You're alone against the disease - I mean, people around you can support you, they can give you courage, a reason to fight, but ultimately, you're the one living w/ it and feeling that thing eating you alive, 24/7. 


    What I mean is that I don't think that "selfishness" is a decision in that case, it's forced onto you. It's part of the disease, a result of being sick.

    I know things can be hard for some ... but us taking this, sometimes is even tougher. My best to the family ... my very best ... and I'm sure Sammy is not going to have an easy time with this either!

    As a wise Guy once stated from his holy chapala ... none of the hits, none of the time ... prevents you from becoming just another turkey in the middle of all the other turkeys!
