GIK vs Real Traps?
Now that I have an RME UCX and Dynaudio monitors, my final quest is for treating my 10' x 11' room. I want either the GIK or Real Traps because they're portable and I can hang them where appropriate. The floor is carpeted and I think the room sounds pretty good as is, but my main concern is bass trapping in the corners and behind the monitors. Anyone prefer one of these brands over another? Thanks

Ya, I went for eight 24" x 48" x 4" Chameleon frames only from Ready Acoustics 3 - 4 years ago. Picked up the appropriate insulation locally as well as some good fabric to match the room decor. Put them all together in an afternoon. Considered building the frames, but for the time and $$ involved to make nice ones, this was a much easier way to go. They look sharp. Also built large corner traps to match.

Ok, I checked out Ready Acoustics. Michael Wagener...that's a great endorsement! But their prices don't seem to be cheaper than GIK from what I'm seeing.

I think the very coolest thing about Real Traps is that the proprietor emphasizes that just about anybody can make traps of equal quality and he even offers information for how to do it. Indeed, that is how a lot of other bass trap vendors learned how to make bass traps. The Real Traps business is based on providing service to people who are busy enough to find the idea of buying traps from them a best value decision while encouraging people who can find a better value to do so. I admire that business practice greatly. It's golden rule philosophy and I like that a lot. best regards, mike

Hey Robert Maybe I need to check the website its been a while. I remember ordering the kits I needed to assemble. Two weeks later they arrived at the door all built with a note saying "It's been a slow week so we took the time to build them for you." Real/GIK are both excellent companies at what they do. Hope you post some pics when its all said and done. GOOD LUCK Kev
