Its been quite a while since I wrote anything which I thought worthy of posting here. Not really sure about this piece either, but I thought I would give it a go! Not my usual Celtic style, this is a piece of Folk Rock (possibly!). For anyone who remembers my "Gimme Gimme Yum Yum", I am not sure if this new piece has quite the same resonance! But there are those who like Crow Pie! How refreshing, Malcolmb. Beautiful arrangement and vocal. The song is dark, yet, inventive. Miriam's voice reminds me of the Cranberries singer, Dolores O'Riordan. This song is a winner in my book.

Really enjoyed that Malcolm! Quite an epic isn't it? Love the arrangment, very nicely put together. I think 'Miriam' works well here, and it puts the song into Loreena McKennitt territory. Liked the percussion (bodhran?) at the start a lot, but the drum loop could maybe use some reverb to bed it into the mix.

Hi Lynn - Sincere thanks, so pleased you like this piece and that the dark mood does come across. When I was scratching around trying to think of lyrics for a piece of Folk Rock, I came across the mythology about Crows. Now that is really dark and hence the lyrics! I shall now have to treat them with extra courtesy when they visit my garden! As for the Cranberries and Delores O'Riordan, that is a major compliment and sincere thanks - Miriam is not easy to work with (!) and trying to get any semblance of realism isn't easy - clearly I am getting a bit better at it!
Hi James - Sincere thanks and so pleased you like this piece. It is a bit of an epic! In fact I was having difficulty stopping! Every time I thought I had finished, I had another thought and extended it even more - and may even do more yet! Sadly it isn't a bodhran - I searched my VSTs and eventually found a GPO drum that sounded close and that is what it is. Every time I suggest to my Bodhran - playing friends that I need them to play for me, they run off and hide behind the nearest Standing Stone - I wonder why?! Loreena McKennitt? - Oh My, In my dreams!

Hi Malcolmb, man i loved your intro , I love the sound of flutes and penny whistles..  when the drums come in you have a very nice tight drum kit sound .... I had to look up the plug that you used for the vox...interesting sound very cool track ..indeed Crow sounds Epic I think a real guitar in places would add a lot to the track . i think i know a guy  all the best . I do agree with you about the drums - loops never have that punch and drive of the real thing - and I am sure James is right that I need to work on the reverb. As for classification, I also agree - perhaps "odd" is the right description - just like me!

Hi Kev - Sincere thanks and I love your description of "painting" the music. It really hadn't occurred to me before but that does describe perfectly how I try to create a piece. Trying to tell a story from introduction to finale in musical pictures! But I bet Van Gogh didn't have as much trouble as I do with the 'paint' mixing!
