It should stop unless you have something far away from the normal ending that is out of view. Check that something is not at the true end. If so delete it.

There could be a envelope handler (volume, for instance) that extends well beyond the end of a track. If so, drag it back to the right edge of the track. Beyond that, be certain that "Stop at Project End" is checked at the bottom of the Options drop-down menu.

The method that I use to make sure that my exported tracks are the appropriate length uses markers. I drop a marker one second before the first notes of the song and call it "start" and then another marker one second after the end and call it "end".  When exporting I select all tracks between those two markers and export that region. This gives me a perfect export length with one second of silence at the beginning and end.

    Good luck

There are 2 possibilities here, neither of which are clear from your post.

    1. Does the project EVER stop? Or do you just get understandably bored and stop it manually? If so, make sure you've got "Stop at end of project" checked
    2. If it does stop but not where you think the 'end' is, then the suggestions above need checking. An envelope node, a Midi event etc is 'way out there' but you haven't deleted it. Go into event viewer, select ALL tracks and scroll down to the end - what's the M:B:T of the last event? Also check any hidden or archived tracks with events 'way out there'

This happens to me frequently.  Not sure what I am doing, but it may be that I am changing a note a fat-fingering the time and inserting a note, controller, or series of controllers at something like bar|beat |tick 911:1:0 instead of 11:1:0 or whatever.  Selecting Now to End and hitting delete fixes it.

The other thing that could happen is letting the song run accidentally in record for a long time and then bumping a fader, a keyboard note, or some other control.
