Mum told me I was never to put tablets or capsules in my ears.

I had it drummed into me at an early age thankfully.

I don't think Mike was "aiming" this at anyone in particular, just an article that brings someone's perspective about the correlation between hearing loss and Benzodiazepines.

I was on an anti-depressant for a couple of months about 7 - 8 years ago. They lowered my blood pressure so much that I would pass out when I would stand up after sitting in the car a long time or sitting in a chair a long time, so the doctor made me stop them cold turkey instead of slowly lowering the dosage like you are supposed to.

I didn't want to take them in the first place but the wife talked me in to it because I couldn't sleep, upset about work, my x-wife, daughter, family crap.

I've since noticed I've lost a good amount of my short term memory and my ears ring like a bell. I'm always forgetting things I have to do now, losing my keys, wallet, tools, forgetting service calls, appointments. I know we get a little forgetful as we get older, but this is way beyond a getting older thing. Sometimes I'll just be sitting here and go completely def in my left ear and the hearing will slowly come back over a period of 60 seconds or so, followed by loud ringing, then back to the normal state of ringing.

All this started after I stopped taking the anti-d's. Never again will I take any of that stuff. I won't even take OTC meds anymore such as Aspirin, Advil, cold medicine, unless I'm really hurting or sick.

Even years after stopping them I'm still in that numb sort of state. I've talked to other people who took them and stopped and they said the same thing. It seems that some of these drugs have a permanent effect on you.

Today I was told by a cardiologist that at my age and history of heart problems in my family and my Type II Diabetes that I should be taking Lipitor.

Mind you, I was referred to the cardiologist because my Dr. noticed PVCs in my EKG.

The cardiologist did an EKG and said "There were no PVCs".

    So why the Lipitor?

I'm not sure I'll even get the script filled.
