"Ode to Synthmaster" - synth/rock instrumental

My latest song.. a synth/rock instrumental using only Synthmaster 2.5 for the synth parts, and Battery 3 for the drums in Sonar Producer 8.5 http://soundcloud.com/examigan/ode-to-synthmaster

This was an interesting listen that didn't go on too long.  Music like this can be mesmerizing or boring.  I think you found the right balance.  My only question is:  did you write the music or did the synthesizer/arpeggiator write the patterns?  Either way, it takes skill at editing to put something like this together.

    All the best,

    Thanks for the nice words.

The only arpeggiated preset of Synthmaster I used was in the couple little sections you here inbetween a couple of the main parts. But it isn't just one note held  down... and then it plays, I wrote out a bit of notation that goes around/up/down for that preset, and gives it a sound to fit the rest of the music.

Nothing else was pre-done/arpeggiated, and no drum loops used, etc...I wrote out everything myself. About the editing you mentioned: It does take a pretty long while to get it just right (or at least how I want anyway -hehe), I worked on this off and on for about a month.

    Rob,

Just my two cents worth.  Good sound and a nice listen.  To me, the leads get a little lost in the mix between 0:57 - 1:24.  Could be my old ears.

Cool. I like. I agree with Glen. Its weak there and a bit later (2:30 or so).

Nice job Rob.  Good playing.  Mix sound right.  Some synth lines could be lifted an octave to keep it interesting IMO.

Thanks! ..and  that's one vote for the mix being ok, - lol

I like to have some dynamics in there, but I am looking into what a couple others mentioned about the mix.

Who knows, I might just leave it the way it is.  Thanks again  =)
