I looked at the help menu for importing broadcast WAVs and sadly, I couldn't make sense of it. This is the first time I ever had to adjust the preferences setting to drag & drop loops. Maybe Prime Loops has changed their wav files somehow. I do notice that these particular WAVs add markers when moved into the project... another mystery.
There are a number of ways a wav file can be saved -- and it can contain miscellaneous information within the file and file headers, such as a timestamp, or a cue marker, etc.
Broadcast wav files do contain timestamps, which is why when you drag/drop it in Sonar it ends up placing the wav in a specific range in the timeline (ie, the timestamps kick in).
Most people doing home recording and non-broadcast work will not need this (except on rare occasion perhaps) so leaving the setting off will usually be ok. Knowing about it is the important thing so if/when you need it, you'll know why and how to reinstate it.
MOST 3rd party/purchased loops do NOT use BWV (broadcast wav) files or timestamping -- for obvious reasons.
However, when the file is saved, it's always possible the person saving it saves it WITH timestamps and doesn't realize it at the moment.
Regardless, now you know what to do either way
