How did i ever manage t buy CW/SONAR??

I just spent 20 minutes trying to find prices and available products to suggest to a friend who has problems with W7 and Cakewalk 9. No luck. I coudn't even get close to anything. All I was looking for was a simple list of products and their prices.
Example: The "Products/Home recording" dropdown has Home Studio 7 listed. I clicked it. It opens a HS Discontinued page with suggestion to upgrade to X1 Essential. I click "Learn More about X1" ... An introduction page opens, I click "Buy Now" and get the upgrade page. But nowhere could I find prices for the new products, only upgrade downloads. I searched for Online Stores, and chose the country. It gave two stores in Finland which do not have SONAR listed on their website.

I know the info is somewhere, and I was just unable to find it, but that's NOT the way to design a site for selling products. Such sites must be designed so that you can't avoid finding the product/price info.

I could swear I've bought directly from CW store, and have the product sent to me from some place in Europe, but maybe I'm just demented!

SONAR PE 8.5.3, Asus P5B, 2,4 Ghz Dual Core, 4 Gb RAM, GF 7300, EMU 1820, Bluetube Pre  -  Kontakt4, Ozone, Addictive Drums, PSP Mixpack2, Melda Creative Pack, Melodyne Plugin etc.
The benefit of being a middle aged amateur is the low number of years of frustration ahead of you.

It's gone the same way as the softube bundle, they've finally seen sense and taken it off the market.

It's good business sense.  It preserves the stock levels.

Especially important with software. What if the stock goes out of date though? Can that be offset against tax?

I owned some intellectual property once.  It got buried in a swamp and I didn't have the sense to insure it beforehand.

    I lost the lot.

I recently mentioned this to Andrew up in the 26.2 percent Marathon sale thread.  There is link to just purchase any version of Sonar X1 not as an upgrade for existing customers.  There is a message to venture out to an authorized dealer.  He has yet to respond to my question of whether registering the demo categorizes one as a Registered Cakewalk Customer.  Someone wanted to buy a copy for someone else as a gift and take advantage of the 26.2 percent sale going on - he seems to be out of luck unless Andrew can provide a path.

Now this is a case where Cakewalk are taking care of their distribution network.  You cannot buy the 'full' version on-line, or at least I've never been able to, so you do have to get it from a local dealer at whatever price they set.

In the UK it makes better sense anyway because the Cake web store prices are a bit over the top £ for $ wise.

This is what Craig was talking about re the Softube PC bundle where it didn't apply as Softube have their own web-store but in this case it does.

I'd suggest that you just go down to Guitar Center and get it:

    http://www.guitarcenter.c...-106375959-i1636988.gc

But then I looked and figured out that Guitar Center only bothers to keep a copy of X1 Producer in stock at 1/4 of their store locations.

My Local store doesn't have it. The closest stocking location for me is Orlando (4+ hours one way) and the second closest is Tampa (5+ hours one way).

I wonder what happens when shoppers at places like Guitar Center ask questions about SONAR? I wonder how many "recording" section clerks even know what it is?

I happened to have actually bought my first copy of Cakewalk Pro Audio down in Tampa at Thoroughbred music back when they had clerks that actually knew a boat load about the products they sold. It was helpful to have someone explain what to expect with regards to practical capabilities.

    Good luck.

    best regards,
    mike

When I went to GC to buy a boxed version of X1, he told me they don't carry Sonar anymore, everyone uses Fruity Loops. True story.

Well it depends. Are they floating screen sets? Are they re-sizable? Do they have friendly names? Can the user change colours?

They are in fact there to replace all the features that have been taken away from previous versions.

The easiest method I use to buy anything is just to type in the product on a search and look for the best price in your region.

It doesn't seem a difficult thing to do here in the UK at least.

I get this by doing that and then take it from there.

Just as a matter of interest do you then add on the CSSERE* tax or do you look upon that as a saving?
