Is there a way to accidentally turn off metering while the transport is stopped?
I started my first X1 project and all the tracking meters were fully functioning on armed tracks at all times. Shortly into the session the meters only worked when the transport was moving (recording or playing). I'm not sure what the function of this would be but maybe I changed a setting I didn't realize. Thanks.

That is a symptom of the audio engine dis-engaging at playback end. You can tell from the colour of the icon at the bottom left of the tranpsort window. It should be blue when running. Set "Play effect tails when stopping" (or something like that) in Preferences->Audio->Playback & recording. I think, I'm working from memory.

Thanks, I'll check that when I get to the studio later.

A consequence of this workaround is that, when you restart, you will hear the remainder of the reverb play out! This is one of several annoyances I wish Cakewalk would do something about at last.

I would have thought playing the tails after stop would be the fix for tails playing on restart, not causing it.

H'm. Just tried it - and it's as you say: it's the other way around. Also checked on 32-bit 8.5 - also so. Some time ago I was really struggling with this issue. Possibly I had some other setting interfering. Anyhow: I stand corrected. It's not often a pleasure to be wrong.

Sometimes it stops and sometimes it doesn't. I can just click the little blue wave icon and it works again. Not sure why it's doing it but I don't care much. I did set it to play effect tails after I finished my session today so I guess I'll check it out next time. I'm pretty happy with X1 so far. I like the edit filters. I wish the text was bigger on the prochannel plugs. The eq is really hard to read on my 27 inch monitor. The screen is 40" from the front edge of the console and the low contrast numbers are small and very hard to see. I wish there was a way to make them larger. Looping is much better.

The effect tails option being checked will definitely keep the audio engine turned on at playback end. Check out Panups excellent Sonar Mods for customisation of PC etc.
