Problem When Nameing A New Project

Hi All

When I start a session I go create a new project then in name I will put the name of the track I am recording....

Now this might seem straight forward enough but on my system its not.... For eg if I name the track She Plays With Fire then

I get a error ....Folder Creation Failed D:\ She Plays With Fire \Audio The System cannot find the path specified

If I name the track "she" or 1234 or anything else random it will work but some times its not liking what I put in as the project file name....

There seems to be no reason for it some times it will take what I put in other times it wont

Anyone know why this might be ?

I notice in your example that you have a trailing space (between the word "Fire" and "\Audio").  Is this just a typo?  If it's not and you are trying to create a folder with a trailing space that might be the culprit.  I think Windows will truncate trailing spaces but Sonar might not.

Hi Vanblah I just check there and you are exactly right :) it was a trailing space and sonar is not liking them I will just need to remember for future reference not to put a space at the end of the name :)

Ive messed up and put the title in the wrong box and got this same fault.  Have to make sure you are in the upper one and not the one in the center. Soory not in front of DAW to be more specific.

    Hi Mike

Thanks I figured it out it was because I was adding a space at the end of the project name.

I've never had a problem with the name "sticking".

My problem is coming up with a good name for the song to start with.

I have also never had a problem changing the name of a file. Open the folder and use the "rename" function.

I always use the name field in the window that opens when I start a new project.... it demands a name.
