How to adjust tempo on imported .mp3/wav files? Sonar 8.5

How to adjust tempo on imported .mp3/wav files? Sonar 8.5

There is probably something easy I'm missing here.
 
I've been trying to add a click track to imported backing track audio but having a hell of a time adjusting tempo on the imported audio. Here's the proccess I've bee trying.
 
Creating normal file.
Copy and paste click track into midi track panning right
Import audio file into audio track panning left
 
Alot of audio tracks run slower than we play them so I need to get the audio to match the click and it doesnt adjust. I've tried mp3, wav and mp4. Is there any way for sonar to convert upon import so I can adjust tempo? I tried the audio stratch and no luck.
 
Also, can I just bypass the midi click and just add a click with the metronome? TIA

    It's way complicated, first you need to extract the tempo using audio snap...It never works 100%. It only seems to work if you have a transient audio track like a kick...sooo..Just fire up a MIDI track and play along as tight as you can recording a Kick or snare. convert the MIDI track to an Audio track and then try audio snap extract tempo. Sometimes you just have to forget quantizing.
