Smart Barcodes on Tombstones

Now theres an idea that could be useful down the road in with technology advancing like it is. I finally found my grandmother after searching the internet that passed away a year before I was born. It gave a picture of her headstone, plot information, city & state, cemetery information and a little info to go with it about her. Now with the barcodes on the head stone, you can scan it with your smart phones and get all the info instantly. Someone should make something like a bloodline tracker app that links to something like Facebooks family tree or Ancestry.com sites and other families will be able to get all the info they need fast. Kinda neat but weird.

This is actually already being offered over here. A system for it isn't up and running yet AFAIK and is so far just a future-proofing of your tombstone. My guess is that it will be standard at some point in the near future.


I'm thinking that when I die I don't want to be affected by technology anymore. But perhaps I'll see the value of it at some point before that

It would have to be weather proof and be able to withstand the ravages of time..... the granite & Limestone they use now doesn't even do that very well. Have you ever walked around an old graveyard looking at the stones? many of the inscriptions are very faded.

Although the scanner idea is a good one. Barcodes I think would fade. Maybe a prox chip would be better.....
