Just a warning; do not think the $30 will get you "full into" the Kontakt world. Many 3rd party libraries require the full version of Kontakt.

It's basically the Free versions w/ an extra 2 GB of samples.

Rain It's basically the Free versions w/ an extra 2 GB of samples. One other thing to note is that it does include a $30 voucher for the NI Shop so for if someone wanted to get an inexpensive multi-instrument library teaser for $29, they are also getting $30 off a future purchase in the store. Might be worth it to some, not really for me, but I can see someone getting it for various reasons.

Being that all the software in the package is free and limited, I'm not sure how great a deal paying for a sample sampler is. I suppose the voucher sweetens the deal for some, but I think I will pass. Good post though. I'm sure someone will find it useful

They had a similar sale a year ago. I looked at it back then and couldn't see much benefit. But I want to make sure I'm not missing something... I already have Kontakt and never use the free player. I already have the lite version of Guitar Rig that came with SONAR but rarely use it. The only element that I'm missing is Reaktor. So tell me about Reaktor. It's basically a synthesizer, right? Can I do something with it that I can't do with all the other synths I have, or am I just buying a bunch of presets?

No, Reaktor is a synth/effect construction kit. It has tons of less-than-great documentation. Thank goodness for that ... if the doc was good I might be tempted to learn it thoroughly and devote all my time building stuff. Some of the more polished Reaktor-based creations (Razor comes to mind) are incredibley capable and deeply complex. Someone really good with Reaktor can do amazing things.

Sounds intriguing. But this package contains the free version, which I assume is analogous to the free version of Kontakt, and that's severely crippled. Do you know if the lite version of Reaktor lets you build custom effects, or just use presets?

It's just the player. You can't customize/build synths.

I agree guys. I have Kontakt 4 and I have no plans to buy this even at this great price. the reason I pointed this out was for people who didn't already have softsynths other than the ones that come with sonar. especially for those who have X1 Essentials or MC! I did not think it would be a great buy for people who already have Kontakt or similar.

Reaktor, in the right hands may be the single most powerful synth available asimply because it is so open ended. You can create synths, effects, drum machines, loop players, etc. It's too much for me. As said, this is just for the player, so it's not even close to the same thing. Even if i were reccomending this to someone with MC or essentials, i would likely steer them towards just downloading the freebies on their own. They can always get more samples but that's just my opinion.

I for one already have Kontakt and several libraries or other products that cover similar categories, but for someone, perhaps with only the light versions of Dimension and Rapture or the Cakewalk Sound Center it might be a deal worth looking into. Adding in the $30 voucher just offsets the expense and might lead someone to look into the other NI libraries that do work fully with the player versions.

I got this last year when they discontinued Komplete Essential or whatever it used to be called. I thought I was buying the older product which had more content and the full version of one or two things I can't remember now. Ended up with Elements which was a far cry from what I thought I was getting, but I was too lazy to complain about it to the site I bought it from. That said it does have a few more amps with Guitar Rig and Reaktor is pretty cool. I used the $30 voucher to buy the Rammfire add on for Guitar Rig which is fairly good for metal. The only reason I might see for getting it would be if someone wanted a few more amps in Guitar Rig over the LE version that comes with Sonar.
