If not, please tell me what I'm supposed to be posting 'cause I don't understand if this isn't right.

    Even I don't care what I think.

But you already knew that if you read any of my posts.

I politely made a few measured, long considered and hopefully well thought out observations expressing my opinions on this place. I wouldn't dream of telling anybody what they should and shouldn't post.

And it's met with unadulterated derision and sarcasm.

So continue posting whatever you want, that's fine by me - honestly. I just thought that maybe you had a little more - I don't know - respect(?) - for me. But how childish to go on a rampage just to belittle me and my views. Mocked and sneered at because I made a genuine and heartfelt request for all of us to maybe just stop and consider the current 'state' of the Coffee House.

I guess it's nice to know who your friends really are.

You have friends Steve. But maybe not the ones you thought. I am immensely disappointed by Beagle's attitude.

I think you need to take a long hard look in the mirror my friend. Bullying comes in many forms, and your recent activity is nothing but. You have done a lot of good here Reece, but right now, you are doing wrong.

Sorry Steve. That's not how it came off.

It came off like you were agreeing with the guy who all but said he hated everyone that hangs out in the CH and that's what stings.

I just want things to be the way they were before the "buffoonery" comment and I'm trying to hit 5K. I know it's a stupid goal, but honestly, it's all I got to look forward to at this current moment in my life, as pathetic as that may sound.

You know what actually pisses me off. Got a letter from the tax assessors orifice today. All puns intended. My 13 year old house we had shipped in, is actually valued $600 less than what it was 13 years ago, but yet my taxes have gone up every year since then.

    Grrr.

Does anyone else see the humor in a guy from the U.S. b!tching to a guy in the U.K. about his property taxes?

    LOL!

Actually Bub, that is exactly how it came off. Well considered, respectful of his friends, while posing the idea that maybe things need to be examined. How it was taken is an entirely different story. Maybe you feel "the friend of my enemy is my enemy too", but life is rarely that simple.

    Re:Am I getting it right yet? 2012/04/18 20:17:33 (permalink)
    Steve,
I am truly sorry you feel that way.  My response here today is not based solely on your post.  I do respect you and I still considered you my friend (still do for my part).

Over the last couple of days I have felt betrayed by some people on this forum whom I thought were participating and encouraging me with what I was posting.  Some of the same people who were encouraging me to reach 40k posts, and some of the same people who were participating with the "becan" and "ya" and "Am" threads suddently changed their minds based on, IMO, a derisive post by John blaming the CH for "buffoonery" and "inane" posts.  That's when it started, but it came to a head after your post stating that for your part you had decided to change.

The multiple posts about famous musicians were not in response to you at all.  zungle and others stated that the forum should be less sillyness and more posts regarding music topics.  It was in jest.

yes THIS thread was sarcastic regarding how I feel betrayed by the same members who were participating and encouraging me just a couple of weeks ago.  Maybe it is immature to do so.  if that offends you or others then I do truly apologize.

I will take this reprimand as a sign that I need to take a break from this forum.  I'm not angry at you or anyone who have expressed their desires that this forum change to something less silly.  I am feeling hurt and betrayed, but that's life and I'll get over it.

in order to help provide an environment which might be a little more mature, I will refrain from posting here.  some of you have my email, all of you can PM me if you wish, but otherwise, I'll not be posting in the CH for a while.

Again, my apologies for my behavior.  Sincerely.  I hope my absence will help allow the forum to heal and grow.

    Look. Can the Kindergartenklopperei stop?

If we are adults then we know that people are going to be 'different'.

Adults should not be throwing insults at each other, neither should they be trying to belittle others who have a different style of posting.

What, you didn't get the notice?  The Coffee House is under new management.  Although it's original intent was to keep non-serious topics away from the forums upstairs, it is now destined to be yet another cookie-cutter location for "safe" drivel and, most likely, eliteist behavior that seeps in from above.

I know of one coffee shop here that recently underwent a management change. One of the first things on its agenda was to discourage the regulars from showing up, so they posted signs saying you were not supposed to sit for any longer than 15 minutes-just long enough to swallow your coffee and go. The next thing they did was to let go of the staff that were there and knew what everyone had. Well, that went pretty good. As it turned out, no one hangs out there any more. In fact, it became a place that now has only a few people showing up in the morning--then sits empty the rest of the day.

Oh yeah, it used to be a 24 hour place--now it is only between 6am and 2 pm...
