Saving Midi Files?

Is it possible to save a midi file, for instance to sent to someone online as I often do with audio files?  I don't see any kind of " save as midi " option or anything.                            Thanks,

i usualy take my midi ideas and slice them up(the cut tool)then use the smart tool and click on the bottom of that clip you want to save and drag it to a folder..what folder?
make a folder on your desk top named "my midi clips"(or whatever) open the file(it can be closed but i find it easier open)
now just drag the midi clip to your task bar where you see your folder(the icon)sometimes you need to hold it there for a second, then the folder on your desktop will open in front of your x1 thats open/drop er in man.

File-Save As and select MIDI Type 1 as the File Type.

After trying all suggestions I'm still missing something.  File>Export didn't have a midi option other than midi groove clip which was grayed out.  I also tried dragging the track to a folder .  There must be a step I'm missing.  Do I need to right click and check " Bounce to Clips " or some other option?  Also, is there a copy / paste option .
Daveny5's suggestion worked but saved the whole templet , which I guess I could use with someone else who uses Sonor.

You can only export MIDI groove clips IIRC. You can save an entire project as MIDI Type 0 or 1 and you should get a MIDI file. It may still look like a Sonar file depending on your setings. Try opening it in Windows Media Player. If it plays back (with or without Sound) it's a MIDI file.

However, if you're just wanting to export a single MIDI track or clip then draging it and droping it on your desktop (perhaps even in the X1 Browser if you're on Expanded) is by far the easiest.

That's the problem I'm having is actually dragging the track .  I selected the track in the track view and tried to drag it to the browser and it wouldn't move / go. Should I be using another view or something?

I'm guessing you're on Expanded? If not, drag to browser doesn't work.

can you drag it to the desktop?

Yes, sorry about that - bad advice

I was thinking it was the same is File > Import which does have the MIDI option.

As ProjectM says, it's easy in Expanded, you just drag it to the browser from Track View, but I think you need to have the Media tab selected
