M.A.S.H.

I liked the original, or rather perhaps the "early years" cast of characters on the TV series:

I thought each one played a special role that made the whole so much more than just the sum of the each.

Plus it has a clever theme song that you can play with a flute.

this is the photo I posted originally, but it shows a later cast:

I'm surprised in this sequel/remake entertainment world we live in that the rights holder to the show has not launched the M.A.S.H. Redux - set it in Afghanistan, modern it up.  Come on, you know someone has pitched this in a studio office sometime recently.

It would never be the same however - M.A.S.H. was just right for the time it came out and the society we were at that time. Times change.   Peoples tastes change. We adapt.  Not always for the best.

The picture you show is actually the "later years" cast.  Harry Morgan (Sherman Tecumseh Potter)(front row 2nd from left) replaced Mclean Stevenson (Henry Braymore Blake). David Ogden Stiers (Charles Emerson Winchester III)(back row 3rd from left) replaced Larry Linvelle (Franklin Marion "Frank" Burns). Mike Farrell (B. J. Hunnicutt)(front row right end) replaced Wayne Rogers (John Francis Xavier "Trapper" McIntyre).

No matter, it was a special show. TV does comes through with some great series very so often.

Like I've said many times in the last week if we all just kept an eye on our own intentions and motives balance soon gets restored.

Alternatively we can keep seeing how far we can get the pendulum to swing because we enjoy watching its movement.

    Perfecto! (on the picture)
Actually I kind of liked both casts. They both had their special quirks and humor. (Although I never really could stand the character of Frank Burns).

I find it odd when seeing an actor like Alan Alda playing a bad guy, like in the recent movie 'Tower Heist'. You come so attached to the character they played and the values they represented on shows such as MASH.

Yes the Korean conflict as a surrogate for the Vietnam War.  I actually liked both casts and one of my favorite serious episodes (don’t remember all of the details but … and I guess they were all serious) was the one where Charles comes to the emotional aid of a soldier who has lost his hand.  The soldier confides that he is a musician and only lives for playing piano so Charles sets him up with piano written for one hand.

Me neither Zungle, but then I am from a later generation I think. I'm not young any more but I'm not in that particular time line.

I'm sure there are exceptions. Somewhere there is a 14 year old that loves old Mash re runs.
