SonarXL 1.3 oldie but goodie help

First of all, I'm new to everything related to this...
I purchased SonarXL ver.1.3 a long time ago, and never got into the daw thing...
Now I'm trying to put together a setup NOT FOR RECORDING, but rather to get some midi sequences together for live use...
I'm basically looking to download midi song files, exchange the instuments within the particular track (when I say EXCHANGE, I mean upgrading that particular instument(ie. piano, strings, horns, etc.)to a BETTER sounding one(via VST'S)...
Got my hands on Pro Tools SE, but that has limitations on midi tracks available and VST add ons....
Checked out Cubase, Pain in the ass to work with, at least for a novice..
So I installed the old Sonar XL 1.3...
My question is..What VSTs can I use with this ancient system??
I'm mainly concerned about getting the best instrument sounds into the projects...
Is this older version too old to get a nice library of VSTs to work with?
Does it support Native Instuments?
Again, I'm only interested in tweaking up the sounds of midi files, andding a count in, and a click track...
Any input/help would be appreciated

    Welcome to the forum.
How old is SLE 1.3? It may not support VSTs at all since Cakewalk didn't add VST support until the mid 2000s.

I am selling my MIM Fender Stratocaster HSS, red and black. PM for more details.

Music Creator 2003, MC Pro 24, SONAR Home Studio 6 XL, SONAR  X3e, CbB, Focusrite Saffire, not enough space.
    Everything is better with pie.

I think that version required you to have a separate VST wrapper which may no longer be available. You need to upgrade to a newer version. Check out Sonar X1 Essentials for the entry level product.
