RIP Levon Helm

We heard about his illness just a few days ago.  The end came quickly.  Rest In Peace, Levon.

Sad, a very original drummer and vocalist too. He leaves behind a great legacy of music.

RIP Levon. I can still remember when I was a teen listening to FM and hearing Cripple Creek and him singin Lake Charles Louisiana and I felt proud! I went to Lake Charles High School at the time. Memories .... got laid under the stairwell in the main school building during class.

I pulled into Nazereth, and Levon was gone, but many great memories remain.

I liked him, and The Band. They all had such a relaxed style and made great music.
If you have the Documentary Channel, see if they're re-airing Innovators In Music and the Levon Helm segment.
They filmed it at a regular local get-together, kinda like McGQ's, where musicians from all over gather and just play whatever happens.
In the interviews with Helm, he was very upbeat about his remission and looking forward.
Really sad.
