setting Tempo

My song is 81 bpm, but in the middle of the song I want to set a section to 95 bpm.   I tried setting it at the spot where I want it to be 95 bpm, but it still plays at 81 bpm.   How do I set the middle portion of the song to 95 bpm?

Tip: You can also set a series of tempo changes to create a ritard (slow down) or speed-up.

Sweep a time selection on the timeline and then select main menu Project->Insert series of tempos.

That brings up a dialogue box of various options that will create a smooth transition from one temp to the other rather than a sudden jump.

Whether that is want you want of course is up to you.

After I did my first few ritardandos (slow-downs) years ago in Sonar, I realized that songs don't gradually slow down from one spot until the end.  More frequently, they slow down quickly (like over 3-4 beats) and then settle at a slower tempo until the end.  I experimented a few times by setting the tempo range, and the playing it back with my eyes closed to see if it felt right.  (Luckily, there is an undo key.)  Some people prefer to draw the tempo changes with a mouse, but I never was good at that—plus I am too OCD for a drawing that is irregular.

    And a very common trap:
If you have copy pasted MIDI-clips in the project, each of them includes a tempo command, and the tempo returns to the original in the beginning of a new clip.

SONAR PE 8.5.3, Asus P5B, 2,4 Ghz Dual Core, 4 Gb RAM, GF 7300, EMU 1820, Bluetube Pre  -  Kontakt4, Ozone, Addictive Drums, PSP Mixpack2, Melda Creative Pack, Melodyne Plugin etc.
The benefit of being a middle aged amateur is the low number of years of frustration ahead of you.
