Transposing

I'm having to transpose a lot of tunes to accommodate our lead vocalist. This really doubles the work load. One or two songs are a 5th away from the original so I'm arranging to vocal parts accordingly. The biggest challenge is maintaining to integrity of the harmonies to the original vocal lines and getting the right sound. It'll be worth all this work in the end. I'm so glad I have Sonar cuz it would be so way harder without this tool. I did convince the drummer to get Sonar Essentials so we can send files back and forth. It's paying off big time!!!

What, though usually a 1/2 or 1 step down??? On harmonies yes a 5th throws a whole different timbre to the harmonies. Dont you rock gawds usually tune down 1/2 step anyway for a grungy sound?

hehehehe Yep it takes a lot of work and time but I did find the right sound. The key is work. I don't tune down and the guage strings I use are the same as SRV. I gotta tell it gives me quit a workout on vibrato/barchords etc.  but you can't get that meaty sound with .9s. Plus I have a Strat. I'm going to ask the bass player to tune down this weekend on just the Strat and Use Maggie for standard pitch. Let me introduce Maggie to you.

Tried it but had that harmonizer sound to it. I may use drop D on Maggie and restring my Tele for standard pitch. I met a lady on the net from Australia. After meeting her I wanted something to remember her by.
