'BUSY' message on various clips, No waveform image!
I opened a large CWP file, and immediately got the message that 'transients were in the process of being drawn' But, after 20 minutes, still no image of waveforms in various clips. In place of a view of a waveform, there's a 'BUSY' message in the clip. This sucks! X1d with no previous issues....

By the way, when I bounce one of those clips to itself, the waveform does appear, but that stinks because I have to do that to a lot of clips, and the process writes the clips' effects. Crap!

BTW, I also tried opening a backup copy of the file and got the exact same problem. I recently changed my A/D/A interface, but that shouldn't be an issue, right? I have newer CWP's from before this new interface and they load fine...

You'll just need to regenerate the audio picture into the "picture cache" by right clicking on the bottom part of the clip - - - go to Associated Audio files (at the bottom), and then "recompute pictures"

Go to the folder that you have Sonar pointed to for your Picture Cache and delete all the files in the picture cache. The next time you open that project it will draw fresh waveforms. Some sort of a Sonar limit on how much can be stored for pic cache. And yes you run into it quicker with X1.

I have run into this issue and sometimes the above suggestions doesn't work. I found out that it was being caused by an output assigned to one that wasn't available (checked) in my audio outs. Have a look at that if it persists after the recompute suggestions.

Yes, this happens to me if I open SONAR too quick before my rack (which contains my interface) is "fully booted".

I first noticed it on my laptop which throws a whappy if I have something like a media player open when I fire up Sonar. I tore the 2 hairs I have left out trying to fathom out what was causing it as the old "recompute" trick didn't work. At least it's fixed and I'm completely bald, job done.

I'll try assigning outputs. My older A/D/A might still be assigned... I'll try the right click on clip trick. thanks...
