New song demo - Me Again - advice greatly appreciated

Since originally posting this message, it has been pointed out that the recording is too quiet. I've put a louder version at

Best wishes,

Here is a demo of my new song 'Me Again'. It was inspired by a comment by one of my Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome friends about the effects of chronic pain - 'I just want to wake up one day and be me again'. It's not finished yet - there's a bit in the middle without much happening which should have some flute in it, and some other bits and pieces need tidying. Any feedback/advice would be greatly appreciated. Best wishes, Malcolm

Hi Malcolm, this is a hard song to listen to, not because of anything wrong with the song, but because the volume is so low from the site that I had to crank up the volume to even barely hear the song.  What I could hear sounds terrific.  I'll try again later to make sure that it's not coming from my end.

All the best,
Lynn

Yes, as the other poster mentioned, the level is too low. You could probably boost the master gain 10-15 dB.

Sounds OK, but I like the "Wait For the Storm" tune on your site better.  Nice instruments and cool flute.

Indeed, had to turn it up very far.

Interesting tune. Has some cool moments.

I imagine this is a bit of a challenge to mix due to the octaves being used by the guitar and piano. Because the electric is playing so low I think it and the bass are competing for space at times, and on occasion the piano and vocals also compete. Piano is also a bit dull. Needs some twinkle.

If you will permit, I would also suggest that the lead sounds a little out of breath at times. He (you) are singing mostly on key, but its shaky. It is probably just a breath regulation issue that can easily be dealt with.

Cheers

Thanks very much for the feedback. I really hadn't noticed how quiet the recording was compared with other tracks I've done - but it is absolutely correct that it was far too quiet. I've adjusted this and put the louder version at

We are planning on adding flute soon - once we arrange some babysitting for our two young boys while we record :-)
BTW - the drums are using session drummer 3 - I thought that SD3 sounds pretty realistic.
Thanks very much.

Has a live vibe, it's a little dark, but I understand why. We're all destined for the same place, it's just a question of when. And hopefully? It works out in the end, the way we believe it does.

All you need is love, just ask the Beatles?
