Unwanted EQ Automation
I was testing some settings on the ProChannel EQ while a track was running. I had WRITE ON on the track because I had previously been adjusting the fader. Now I have EQ frequencies and levels changing during the track. I highlighted the track and went to Edit | Cut |Track/Bus Automation but the EQ automation I don't want is still there. How do I get rid of it? (I didn't even know you could automate this.)

Try Shift/Clicking on the envelopes and then right clicking a highlighted envelope - should be able to delete.

Or if there's lots of it, select the whole track. Then Edit-->Delete..... uncheck everything except automation and delete it that way.

This is weird because I have highlighted the whole track and deleted everything except the wave itself, but the EQ knobs still move. I can't get rid of it. I don't see any green dots and lines in the track that indicates automation. For the record, is EQ automation Read/Write even supposed to be a feature?

Sounds to me like you have "Display Ghosted Data" unchecked in TV menu-->View-->Display. That will stop any actions such as delete, copy, etc etc performed on tracks from affecting the envelopes unless it is selected in the edit filter. AFAIK that is by design. HTH.

Is this an audio track? If it's the output of a soft synth, make sure you're deleting the automation from the correct track.

And as a tip for the future - you can usually undo these things. Whenever I accidentaly write automation i just hit Ctrl+Z and it's gone. If you've closed and reopened and/or adjusted a million things since then, deleting the envelopes is of course the only option.

Thanks, everyone. As always, great advice from this community. In answer to Colin (Bristol_Jonesey), this is an audio track. It is a recording of a steel string guitar programmed in a Tyros 2. Although I gravitate more and more towards virtual instruments and continue to add more, I still have some favorite sounds in my Tyros 2 and JV-1080—and a few in the Kurzweil PC2R.

This might be a good one to send in to Cakewalk to have a look at. Have you been through the Event Viewer for this track and identify any "shape" events?
