Solved---Toontrack SDX Roots-Brushes memory loading hangs in Sonar X1

Anyone having memory loading hangs with Toontrack Roots Brushes SDX in Sonar X1? All my other Toontrack SDX and EZX kits including Roots Sticks load fully and completely, but the Roots Brushes SDX never fully completes its loading. It sounds fine, but never finishes the load. This happens with every preset in Brushes. I do have the internal SD2.3 memory set to 2600; so this is more than enough. The “Memory & Status” box in the lower right left of the SD GUI just says “loading samples” and never finishes. Again it sounds fine; it just never completes the load like it does in the other SDX and EZX kits.

I checked to see if this happens outside of Sonar.  But it loads fine/correctly in Toontracks SOLO 64bit and finishes the loading of samples, but in Sonar XI Win 7 64 bit, it hangs.

Again, this only happens with Sonar X1 as host of Roots, Brushes SDX. And no matter what mixer preset in Brushes is loaded, it always comes close, but never quiet finishes the load. It just hangs.

I am running Win 7 64 bit, Sonar X1D Prochannel Expanded with Panu's Yellowstone 64 bit mod.

Any thoughts? Anyone reproducing the same loading hang?

There is a setting in Superior Drummer that limits the memory allowed for loading a kit. Once you hit that limit, it stops. Check for that in the SD settings. The limit was put there to keep hosts from crashing in systems that didn't have adequate RAM to load the large kits.

Thanks Dave.  I had already increased that SD internal ram setting up to 2600k.  So I just increased it up to 3000k and it crashed my system when I tried to load Brushes--got the blue screen of death.  Then, I did a check of my memory (16gigs) with memtest86 and it passed.  I am going to do a full stress test on my system, but it runs all the other SDX kits with no hiccups; so I suspect there is a faulty install.
I think I am going to uninstall both Roots Brushes and Roots Sticks and then go through the laborious task of re-installing the two sdx libraries again.  Once before with one of the EZX kits, I had a similar problem that was resolved by re-installing.   I just thought I would ask here on the forum first to see if it was something that other Roots-Brush user had seen before I went through with the reinstall.

Thanks for your help.  You are the resident guru on Toontrack and I am glad you responded.

Thanks.  I just finshed reinstalling.  I have to go and see if it is better now.

    Edited--below *********************************

Just got back for re-installing Brushes.   Well--heck--this thing just does not like me.  After uninstalling and reinstalling, it still loads all but the last few mbs and then hangs.  It sounds fine, but never finishes.

Isn't it funny or sad (depending on you view) how some vsts work fine on computer a, but on computer b, they have some issues.

I think i will contact Toontrack support for this one.

Thanks for helping me troubleshoot this a bit.

Opened a support ticket for this over at Toontrack Support.

It may or may not make a difference.  The sound is fine (wonderful in fact--love the brushes); it just looks annoying.  Hopefully Toontrack Support will have some suggestions.

Toontrack Support spotted the trouble immediately in the screen shot I sent them.  I had 2.2.3 running and needed 2.3 to run this SDX.  While I actually had updated to 2.3, I mistakenly still had Sonar X1 pointed to an old vst folder that still had the old 2.2.3 in it.  So I deleted the old folder, added the correct vst path in the plugin manager, and VOILA it all works immaculately.  No more memory hang.

I am so happy with Toontrack's support people.  They really rock (or jazz in my case with Roots-Brushes).
