The large range you can see is indoor spectator area, covered firing points and 40 meters outdoor.
It can be converted to a 70 lane, 10 metre indoor air rifle/pistol range.

Sorry, my fault. I didn't discribe it very well... It's a 50 metre (164 feet) range with 70 firing points. The roof over the firing points extends 10 metres downrange and can be closed off to give a 10m indoor range. You can see a concrete pad in some of the pictures, that is where the 10m targets go. It's a fantastic range, the comments from the shooters are that it is the best they've ever shot. Shame it will be dismantled after the olympics....

Hard to imagine, but I guess it makes sense... sort of?
For a second I had decided that the conversion was 140 yards with .22cal and I thought "hairy edge".... sorry, 2 long days shooting a TV commercial and I'm brain dead.

No, I'm not that good. I'm one of several hundred that it takes to run a competition the size of a World Cup. I've been doing several jobs so far, from equipment control to waitress.... At the Olymipics I'll have a permanent job on the ranges. The range is temporary, built on Woolwich Common.

Just keep your head down, OK?  I recall working in the trench under the targets at the ranges while in the military. You could not hear the gunshots at all, but you could hear the sonic "crack" of the bullets overhead, which was a sobering reminder of which end of the range we were working at. Cheers Shad

Everyone treats these events with the solemn dignity they deserve. I would be sorely tempted to load myself up with the biggest movie prop-style, wide-barreled, outlandish guns imaginable, leap into the fray, and scream, "Say 'Hello' to my Little Friend!!!"

Scope?? We don't use no steenken scopes (except for shot spotting). At 50 metres I could unfasten the bell from the cow... (and milk it...)
