SOLVED: Quick TAB (Guitar tablature) X3

Can someone give me a heads up on creating Guitar Tablature in X3.
I'm using a simple midi file but in Staff view in the Edit menu, Quick TAB is "greyed out".

I can't find anything on the forum or Web to give me a clue on what I'm doing wrong.

Do the midi notes already have to be on specific channels that sonar recognises?
Thanks :)

I'm not sure TBH. You should be able to view the TAB view without any pre-conditions. Try right clicking over the track in staff view and select "Layout". There you should be able to check the "Display Tablature" check box. Does that fix it or is that greyed out too?

Thanks for the reply Karl.

I think there must be an issue with midi file I imported because it is still "greyed out".
I thought it might be because I had lyrics on the file but I tried a copy of the file which only had lyrics and it would set to TAB OK.

So I just copied and pasted a few bars from the problem track into another midi track and it works fine now, so maybe a corruption? But I see how it works now, so all's good.

BTW I have 3 of your courses (via Cakewalk) and find them very good.

Thanks

This is a pretty old thread, but I just had the problem today- "display tablature" greyed out-
and I tried something that worked.  The midi file, shown in the staff view, included both
treble and bass; I changed it to show only on the treble staff and it then became "un-greyed,
and allowed me to see the tablature!

Switched back to treble/bass, and it is greyed out again.

I don't know if the tab was correct when it was displaying, haven't dug into it that far yet,
but it's displayed on six strings, fret 1-12, so its probably ok.

This exact same thing happened to me yesterday, and was solved in the same manner as described. And yes, the TAB was correct.
